The ripple effect of a CSR project

corporate Showcase

Volkswagen India 25 November 2019

Volkswagen India has been associated with the National Federation of Blind Maharashtra’s since 2015 and has supported various requirements of the school including construction of the new school and hostel buildings. This is one of the CSR projects that have seen a ripple effect with quite a few departments and employees in their individual capacities supporting the students of the Jagriti School for Blind Girls. The contributions from the volunteers have been varied. From spending time with the students to understand how they overcome their disability in their day to day lives, to providing things they need, like headsets for their audio lessons, to supporting them with scholarships, volunteers from the company with their actions have said “Count me in.” Two employees along with a group of like- minded painters and photographers hold an annual exhibition of their paintings and photographs and have been donating the proceeds to various social causes. Last year, they donated INR 1.2 lakhs towards scholarship support for 10 students of the school. Recently, some employees supported the school in buying HV Pro Device, smart canes, and Braille watches for 18 students who passed Grade X this year.
